Honor Blume, PTI, CPACP – Proprietor, Canine Stylist, Trainer & Pet Tech Instructor
Honor started grooming in 1982. She is a past Officer and Board of Director for the Great Barrington Kennel Club and has co-chaired for Responsible Dog Owner’s Days, the annual Health clinic and works the two Annual conformation point shows hosted by the club. Honor is also a member of the Berkshire Distaster Animal Response Team (DART), a AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator and Pet Tech Instructor.
Honor has been married to Douglas since 1985. They have three wonderful children; Meghan, Taryn and Colin, all of whom have worked at the kennel. The family is owned by a Australian Shepherd, a Boston Terrier, a Yorkie, Irish Water Spaniel, Mini Poodle and a Great Dane. Honor’s heart dog “Caleb” was a ASCA/AKC Champion. He had sired numerous litters and is in the ASCA Hall of Fame for his breed.
Ellen Whitbeck – K-9 Cosmetologist
Ellen graduated from the CT Canine Education Center in 1995 and has been grooming dogs at BowMeow ever since. Ellen’s Barley (pictured here) crossed over the Rainbow Bridge in June. She has added Mia, a new Greyhound to her family .
Tish Thorpe, CPACP- Canine Stylist, Playcare Associate, Trainer & K-9 Massage Technician
Tish has been working at BowMeow since 2001. She has her animal science degree and is a Certified Professional Animal Care Provider (CPACP). Is a past Officer and Board of Director for the Great Barrington Kennel Club, Inc. Tish has co-chaired for Responsible Dog Owner’s Days and their annual Health clinic and worked the two Annual conformation point shows hosted by the club. She also has held a position on the Board of Directors of the New England Pet Grooming Professionals, Inc., is an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, AKC Agility Course Test (ACT) Evaluator, is PetTech Certified, is a member of Hudson Valley DockDogs, Australian Shepherd Club of America, Inc., Yankee Flyers Dog and Disc Club and Irish Water Spaniel Club of America.
She competes with her Australian Shepherds in herding, conformation, Rally O, dock diving, Disc dog, Barn hunts and Agility. She is involved with breeding Australian Shepherds for their quality to match the standard for the breed. Tish also handles Llyr (Honor’s IWS) in the conformation ring.
Before starting at Bow Meow, Tish worked as a horse trainer/care giver, which she continues to do till this day. She has worked with horse trainers from across the globe. She grew up in a 5 dog household and had at least 6 horses in the barn at a time. She has showed horses throughout the Northeast. Her two-legged son, Cody, is active with animals and sports.
Michelle Palmer – Head of Housekeeping
Michelle has been working with dogs for over 25 years. She started at BowMeow in 1997.
Lori Beth Amato – Kennel Staff & Groomer
Lori started back to work at BowMeow in 2010, after a leave of absence. Upon her return, she has added to her job duties and now grooms in addition to her position within the kennel.
Jenna Farmer – Kennel Staff & Playcare Associate
Jenna started back to work at BowMeow in 2012 after taking some time off to finish College.
She has two dogs at this point in her life, a Border Collie and Hound mix.
Shayna Spencer, CPACP – Kennel Staff & Playcare Associate
Shayna started working at the BowMeow the summer of 2010, just after she turned 14.
Growing up as a child, her family owned a working farm with many large animals and a farm stand. She started studying Animal Science at the University of Rhode Island and also worked for the farm on campus. Spring of 2016 she started volunteering at TRUE Balance Animal Wellness to get hands on experience.
Kathleen Segrin – Trainer & K-9 Massage Therapist
In 2008, Kathleen started massage therapy at the BowMeow, in the spring of 2015 she started training for the BowMeow and her duties expanded over the summer. She has over 44 years of experience working with animals of all shapes and sizes. She is a Certified Canine Massage Therapist, Certified Hydro Technician, Certified Veterinarian Technician & AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator. As a active member of multable canine clubs, Kathleen has held seats on the Board of Directors for the Great Barrington Kennel Club Inc. and Hudson River Air Dogs.
Kathleen and husband Douglas started Hilltop Labs in 1979. With a love for their breed they have put mutable titles over the years on their dogs in field, dock diving, agility, obedience, Rally O and conformation.
Lauren Scanlon – Kennel Staff & Playcare Associate
Lauren started at BowMeow in February 2016. She has always been interested in animals and loves playing with any dog she can get her hands on. She adopted her Catahoula Leopard Dog named Josie in March 2015, who has taught her so much about herself and bolstered her passion for animal care.
